"Come here often?"

chickmagnet_blog, originally uploaded by gregring.

Thanks Kristen for the "Chick Magnet" shirt. Although this outfit kind of bums me out because Turner already looks like a todler in this picture. We've started trying to give him a bottle for the first time these past couple of days. The first time was full of gagging and outright refusal. The second was just full of gagging! We're getting closer! Actually you can tell he wants that milk inside that bottle, it's just a matter of finding out that technique. We'll keep you posted! Hurrah!

BFF!

grils2_small, originally uploaded by gregring.

Ashley's really good freinds came into town last weekend. Jenni (sp?) and her husband Jeff as well as Jane and her boyfriend Mike. We ate Chinese and had some wine and laughs. Ash was really happy to get the opportunity to hang out, as was I. We have the pictures to prove it.

I've been kind of slackin on posting stuff lately, but now that the Mavericks are out of the playoff and my nights are a little more free you can look forward to seeing more stuff up here.

Turner's started to really smile a lot. Ashley says he smiles at me far more than anyone else. I think he smiles at his mother just as much, but what do I know? I'm not with him all day. He also has started to find his thumbs which is really cute. He hasn't quite learned how to bend his elbow just so to get his hands near his mouth. It takes a good 30-50 trys before he has succuss. But when he does he's in hog heaven. Which is good because now he can kind of console himself if he starts to get a little fussy. Since he will not take a pacifier (he usually starts to gag and totally freaks) the fact that he's has his thumbs to put in his mouth is a lifesaver for Ashley and I. He's also started to get really chubby...ok fat. He's really cute and looking at my baby picture at six weeks - I was a chubb monster as well.

Three Ring Circus (ROCK ME!)

grandpaandturner, originally uploaded by gregring.

Sorry I haven't been posting stuff lately. It's really been crazy. I've been trying to get my stuff together to came back to Dallas and get a decent job. The website is coming along great. It's a lot of work, but not near as much as Jeremy Fields is putting into it. I can't say enough about him. He's really helped me out a lot. Anyway, my parents came last weekend and got to see Turner for the first time. I've included a link to some pictures here. They were really only here for a day, but they saw the greatness in my son. My sister Jennifer came with them. It was swell. Ash and I are still planning on coming back in July, so I hope everyone is ready - Lord knows I am.

Turner Gallery

Turner, originally uploaded by gregring.

Alright. Here it is. The long awaited, much anticipated and somewhat underestimated Gallery of Turner. I put pictures of Turner (of course) but there are a few of me as a baby and some of Ashley to come.

Turner is getting so big so quickly. It's crazy. I think he's a little over 11lbs. now! And he even seems to be getting longer. He was in the 80% of his hieght last time we took him to the doctor and now he seems to be even longer. You know what that means...center forward or power forward. Maybe both!

Go Mavs.

GET MAD DIRK!

dirk, originally uploaded by gregring.

I'm in Missouri watching my favorite team the Dallas Mavericks getting stomped by Tracy McGrady and the Houston Rockets. My in-laws are starting to think I have an anger managment problem with all my cursing and yelling. It's really my only outlet for my testosterone recently. Anyway, I'm sick of watching Dirk take jump-shots and go 4 for 65 from the field. He's got a white stiff on him and he's taking fadeaways! GO TO THE HOLE! I still think the Mavs have a shot in this series. They better...

"Alcohol. The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems"

me and ash vol.2, originally uploaded by gregring.

This picture is the first drink that Ashley had since she found out she was pregnant. It was during the celebartion dinner thrown by Ashley's mom, Jackie. we had Tenderloin. It was great. All three nights in a row. Ashley is not a big drinker. And the only reason why I'm writing this at all is because I love the headline (Which is a Homer Simpson quote.)

My new site should be up and running soon thanks to the help of Jeremy Fields. It should be pretty nice and really easy to update. I'm looking forward to it. There is a splash page at gregring.com. right now that will look strangely familiar. Stay tuned for the "official launch date.

Thanks for Visiting!

Me and Turner, originally uploaded by gregring.

I know you guys don't care about Google Satelitte images and my design buddies. The people have spoken and I they think Turner is cuter than me. And more importantly, more interesting (and he cant even type - much less talk!) Oh well, better get used to it. So to try to steal some thunder from the new Pope I've posten a link to the pictures that Whitney took over the weekend. These pictures of Turner are a really good. Thanks Whitney for bringing all those presents for him and posting these pictures so quickly!

I recently got word of my fellow friends catching heat because of my lovey-dovey post over Turner. Their wives are reading what a great father I am and wondering how they got stuck with these loser husbands and not a guy like "G-Force". All I can say is, get used to it boys. It's the give and take for having me as a freind. On one hand, you're freinds with thr greatest guy in the world; on the other hand you're freinds with the greatest guy in the world. Go figure. The wives are really jealous of Ashley. She gets to sleep next to this hunk-a-love every night. What a treat! -insert sound of Ashley laughing here-

Global Peeping Tom.

googlemaps, originally uploaded by gregring.

In case you haven't noticed, the mother of all search engines has expanded it's dominance into maps. Google Maps is a relative new venture from the company. But Mapquest isn't the only people that Google has shaking in their boots. Remember that movie "Enemy of the State" with Will Smith and Gene Hackman? You know the one where Hackman's character won't look up because he doesn't want to be "seen" by the government's eye in the sky. This is where Google has come in. If you go to Google Maps and search for a landmark around your house. Now zoom in as close as possible. Now look in the upper right hand corner where it says Satellite. Scary huh? There's no doubt that it probably works better if you have a high-speed connection. But I can clearly see my house, my driveway, even the 10x12 shed in my backyard. And this is the free version from a internet search engine. There's a paid version from Google where the image will be updated every 20 minutes. Do you think your spouse is having an affair while you're away on business? Now you can see if there is a "unexplained" car parked in the driveway.

We get by with a little help from our friends

Turner after a bath, originally uploaded by gregring.

Since Turner's been born we have been blitzed with gifts, cards and letters from friends, family and from people that I really don't know. I kind of felt the same way when Ashley and I got married in 2002. Everything from soccer balls to hand tie-dyed onesies (sp?) Thanks to everybody for all those wonderful things. Taking on the task of raising a child is a daunting one. But with the help from our family and friends, I'm confident that Turner's going to have tons of love coming his way. I have to take all the credit for picking such great family and friends.

Whitney (Ashley's Cousin & best friend) is coming in from Dallas and she is bringing a lot (from what I hear) of presents with her from various people. Should be fun.

Since you have stuck through the boing part of this blog, you will be richly rewarded for you attention with new pictures of Turner. Enjoy! And don't be afraid to post a comment. All the other blogs are laughing at my blog and my blog is starting to have it's feelings hurt.

This is starting to become a pain.

This blogging is stuff is wearing me out! I'm hoping to be able to post something everyday, but I'm quickly finding out that my life just isn't that interesting. OR maybe it is and hundreds of thousands of people are visiting this blog and eagerly awaiting every little thing I have to say...but probably not.

Turner is starting to look more and more like his dad. When he was born he looked excatly like Ashley's baby pictures. But as he eats more (and boy does he eat) his face starts to fill out and he's about 70% Ashley and 30% Me now. That's probably a good enough mixture. Anyway, I know people are still coming to this blog to see pictures of Turner so here they are.

The man so nice they named him twice

harben, originally uploaded by gregring.

If you like to check out good design then you'll love Ben Harben. He's another designer that works with me at the IDPgroup. He's uber-talented and has the website to prove it. Make sure to check out the "Bubblegum Society" where he chews bubblegum and makes pretty pictures out of it of fading reality televisions stars. Good stuff. The gum will eventually turn to dust and the pictures will be no more, much like these "so-called" stars. Get it? It's an artsy-fartsy thing.

It starts

3 Moms, originally uploaded by gregring.

I used to be cool. Hanging out till all hours of the night, partying with the boys, doing things that I would never post here. Then I got married. The partying slowed down to a crawl but there was still some craziness now and then. But now, this is what my life has become. Spending Saturdays taking pictures of the three moms and their kids and talking about how much this little girl pooped in the first month and how much this little boy loves his stuffed giraffe. "Oh, he wuvs it! Doesn't he! He wuvs his wittle giraffe!" It's not that I can blam these parents because I have now officially become one of them. And actually, I realized that even before we had Turner that these were just proud parents. They want to spread the joy to all the other people of the world. But as I crouched taking picture after picture I realized that my life is offically over. That's what people don't tell you when you're about to have a child. Sure they'd say "Oh boy, your life is going to change." And when your like me, the fun loving handsome type (ha) you think to yourself "but I'm still young! I've still got some partying left to do!" What people don't say is that the partying is over because you have a some thing at home that is more fun than anything. And I can't explain it. Turner is more fun. I'd have to admit that when I lived in Dallas I'd sometimes sit at home wondering if I was missing something. I was sure that one of my friends were going to call me in the morning and tell me about something and I'd be sorry that I stayed home with Ash to watch Extreme Home Makeover or something. But now, I KNOW that there is nothing better out there. I rush home for lunch now to see him. I'm upset when I leave in the morning for work and he's sleeping. It's been swell.

I used to be cool. But now I get to mold this little thing into something even cooler...if that's possible.

More of my son! Yeah!

More of my son! Yeah!, originally uploaded by gregring.

One of the newest pictures of my son, Turner. He eats really well, but not well enough for Ashley. Her boobs are about to float away they're so engorged. Thankfully, I'm not really a boob guy or I might get some ideas that Ashley needs to have some work done. There are more pictures of Turner here if you just can't get enough.

I'm going to be launching a new website soon that showcases my design work as well as some of my close friends talents. Like a short story from Colin Santos, paintings from Jon Eenigenburg, maybe a song or two from Jess Farr, etc... Stay tunes for that stuff. Although I'm sure my first day back at work in six days will set me back a little on that project.

Jeremy-Fields.com

Jeremy-Fields.com, originally uploaded by gregring.

I've been bragging on my ulrta-rad son, Turner, for the past couple of post and that will probably continue for the next couple of post. But I've neglected my duties as a designer. One of which is to promote my fellow designer buddies! Jeremy Fields is the Interactive Director at IDPgroup. He has finally launched his own website to showcase his talents as a web designer and interactive guru galore. Check out his talent here.

Also, Don't forget about Milton Mapes. I got to give props to the Lake Highlands grads for putting together one mighty fine album in "The Blacklight Trap". My favorite song has to be "Waiting for Love to Fail", but I'm sure you'll have your own favorite.

It's the "little" things

Me and my boy, originally uploaded by gregring.

We took Turner home (to the inlaws where we are staying) today. In all my life I don't think I've ever driven 10 miles an hour UNDER the speed limit - no matter what the speed limit may be. He's been awesome. He LOVES to eat and after Ash is done feeding him, I LOVE to hold him while he sleeps. It's what I do best with him. In case you didn't know, Ashley works as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse so she knows a thing or two about newborn babies. Although they usually aren't as healthy as Turner is (thankfully). That makes me feel even more clueless, but most of the time thankful that she mom of our first born. She insist that she knows nothing of healthy babies and says that she is just as nervous around Turner as I am...she lies.

Actually, I'm not nervous as much as inexperienced. I'm not afraid to change diapers or burp the baby, I've just rarely done it and therefor would much rather have a trained professional around to tell me how to clean the cord and take care of the poor guy's penis that's been freshly wacked. That's where I know God has stepped into my life and given my Ashley. It's a perfect example of Him knowing how much I can handle.

I promised more pictures and I will deliver. I was going to make this cool Flash-based photo album but alas, I've spending my time doing other things. So here is a temporary link to some more pictures of Turner if you care to see them. And I know you do!

Turner Kenneth Ring

turner2, originally uploaded by gregring.

I know this ins't the greatest picture. I'll post a whole slew of them in a day or so - so stay tuned. Turner weighed 8.5 pounds and was 21 inches long. He was born on April 6th, 2005. He is so rad I can hardly stand it. Ashley had her water broken (by the doctor) at 10am, started pushing at 4pm, and Turner was born at 7:15pm. Needless to say, she's pooped. He's got a full head of dark brown hair and big hands and feet. As of right now, he really looks like his mother. Although he does have my feet and sense of humor! Ha! Anyway, like I said there is more to come as far as pictures and junk in the next couple of days.

Double B in the hizzie!

In a stroke of "what the hell?" Britton Beisenherz came strolling into town (Columbia) tonight to play with Milton Mapes at the Music Cafe. Sadly, since Asley in getting induced tomorrow at 6am we didn't have a chance to check out the show. But that being said, we still had the opportunity to swap stories and a down a beer (or two) before sound check. Ashley really enjoyed seeing him as did I. It's been a while, but seemed like yesterday we were killing a twack & swimming in the river. Thank to BB & the guys from Milton Mapes for hookin' me up with their latest "The Blcklight Trap". It will be the next addition to the iPod. Check them out at www.miltonmapes.com

As previouly stated, Ashley and I go in the hospital tomorrow to have this baby. It's a mixture of nervousness, excitment and sheer terror that I'm going to be a father in less than 24 hours. But God is with me. And believe me, I need Him. We'll have something posted by Thursday (if not sooner).
Thanks for all ya'lls support.

To keep you interested

"Who's the gay one?", originally uploaded by gregring.

I'm going to post lame pictures like this one to keep you interested in this lame blog. This was taken when I came to town a couple months ago. Enjoy! And who knows, maybe I'll put a gay picture of you on my blog! Oh the joy!

a reason why gregringiscool

meandash, originally uploaded by gregring.

Here is a picture (allthough not a very good one) of the lucky lady who ended up with me. Ashley is doing really well and is looking forward to getting the baby out of her tummy and into her arms. She confessed that she felt is was a boy this morning. I think it's a girl. As long as it one or the other and not both or ambiguous, I'm psyched. Hopefully we'll have some pictures up here by friday. Until then, You'll just have to settle for this one of mom&dad.

A way to make me a better typist

This is my blog. It's simple. It's free. It's blog. Anyway I am typing this crap in hopes that someone someday will say "wow that's a good blog" But until that day I'll just use it to fine tune my typing skills. Don't expect much...(how's that for an intro?)

April 2, 2005
