Christmas

Christmas was awesome. Kids make it that way. Here were the highlights:

1) Lane, Tara and LaRue (and Peanut Butter) driving up Christmas day.
2) It snowed!
3) Christmas Eve Service and spending the evening with my family opening presents.
4) Eating cake for breakfast Christmas morning.
5) Me and Lane beating Ash and Tara in Trivial Pursuit...badly.
6) Snowball fight with Turner and LaRue.
7) Eating awesome chili while watching the boys (Graham, Turner and LaRue) play at the Williams'
8) Watching Turner play with his favorite new presents (digital camera & his first bike)

"The Rainbow" by Turner

I'm loving this. We painted the red/orange background when Turner was 3. So this painting has been in the works for about 2 years. Sorta like the Mona Lisa.

It's complete with all of the colors in the rainbow. Five sheep (with four legs each) eating the grass.

Fall Fun

Lila turned 13! Whoa. Time flies. There was a get together at the O'Brien's and the party included cake and tree-jump-roping. Turner LOVES to hang out with Logan and will follow him to the ends of the earth (or up a tall tree).

Holloween 2009

Turner and I braved the ghost and goblins Saturday night and went trick or treating for Holloween. A block over about 30 or so houses got together and made a block party with games, candy and other activities for the kiddos. It was cool. Except that all of the people were not inside there houses - so there was no:

1) knock on the door
2) say "trick or treat" at the top of your lungs
3) then say "thank you" as you leave (or dad takes the candy you just got from that house)

Instead Turner was trying to figure out who to say "trick or treat" to. There was so many people walking around and it was dark. Our friendly neighbors were just saying "here you go" and putting huge handfuls of candy in T's bucket. No "trick or treat" needed to be verbalized. Is nothing sacred?

It was fun, but I think Turner was even a little beaten down by the end. With about 5 houses left he just wanted to go home.

State Fair of Texas 2009

One of the best parts about living in Dallas is the awesomely awesome State Fair of Texas. We had three months of weather in the triple digits, then three months of rain, but Friday was perfect. It's Texas/OU weekend so it was pretty crowded but that's cool. It adds to the energy. The best new addition to the fair is not the fried butter, It's the DART rail. It took us from the front steps of my office to the front steps of the fair grounds.

The Goose stayed home but Turner had a blast. The fair is one of those rare things (like Christmas) that he "remembers". He remembers the games, corndogs, and of course Big Tex - who we get a picture with every year (see HERE and HERE.)

Highlights from this year include: Big Tex, Corndogs, Lego Experience (we won the "Build the biggest tower in 2 minutes" competition), Turner dancing, and eating cotton candy.

Anyway, enjoy the video and pictures of Turner (and Mom & Dad) having fun at the great State Fair of Texas.

I love the fair...

The Goose is loose!

Happy Birthday Gigi!

Happy Birthday to Gigi (and Nana ((sp?)) of course) Hope you have a great one! We love you so much!

Butterflies!!

Lauren and Zach got Turner a caterpillar kit. The caterpillars stay in a container till they make cocoons. A week or so later - viola! Butterflies! Mom and Turner released the butterflies into the wild where they quickly went looking for those elusive wild orange slices that they were accustom to.

Turner Hawk

Turner's been asking for a skateboard for a couple months now. Ash and I talked about getting him one for Christmas but figured that he'd get more use out of it during the warmer summer/fall months.

We decided that we'd get him one after his first day of "school" (which is a pre-k class on wednesday & friday.) SOOOO, I left work a tad early yesterday so we could give Turner his rad new skateboard. We quickly had to go to the highschool to try out some "sweet tricks" as Turner calls them...

Gus Rocks.

Break out the baby-gates and put those little corner bumper pads everywhere because Gus is on the verge of crawling. I remember being so proud of Turner getting on his hands and knees. I thought it was going to be so awesome to have a little thing cruising all over the place. But that's just the thing, now this little thing cruises all over the place...I think Gurdy has an extra leash...

More to come.

I'll post some pictures of the family trip to Missouri when Ashley gets back (with the camera). Ashley stayed up in there with Turner, Gus, Gigi, G-Dad, Lauren, Gurdy, June, and Coby Dean Miller. SO I'm home alone and have to find ways to entertain myself. Last night I went to eat with Payce, Colin and his 4-year-old daughter, Harper. She's a blast. Smart, Goofy, very funny and cute as a button. Here's the proof:

Gus Laughing

Gus has been teething for a few weeks so he can sometimes be a crab apple. After he's nice and rested though he can be hilarious - and so can I apparently. This video is right after his afternoon nap when anything I did, Gus laughed. BTW, thanks to the new iPhone I've been taking a lot more video. It's so great to get moments like this by simply reaching in my pocket, pulling out my phone and hitting record.
