The "T" is for Turner

Turner started T-Ball on Saturday. His team is the Rangers and they won by one run over the hated Blue Jays in a high scoring, back and forth affair. Because of Turner's speed and ability to put the ball in play, The coach decided to hit Turner leadoff. The decision payed off. Turner went 3-3 with 3 runs. But the play of the game happened when he was playing third. With the Blue Jays batting - runners on first and second, the batter hit a rocket to third and Turner played it off the short hop, kept the ball in his bare hand and dove to tag third! Just in time. OUT!

Needless to say we got ice-cream after.

The Big Race

We love to listen to music. Lately it's been two songs.

1. Queen "We Will Rock You" (Turner's favorite)
2. Randy Newman "The Big Race" (Gus' favorite from the Cars soundtrack)

When we listen to "The Big Race" the game is to walk during the slow parts and run during the fast parts. Gus can do this ALL DAY and would if we let him. Also, notice mom in the background wiping up a mess on the floor. That Mommy. Always making sure everything looks great!

A Picnic for Mother's Day.

For Mother's Day the boys packed a picnic lunch for Mom and headed to White Rock Lake. We threw the Frisbee®, kicked a ball and checked out the local wildlife which included an egret, a family of ducks, a turtle and something that occasionally made a huge splash underwater. Turner thinks it was a crocodile.

Moss Park

There are so many nearby jewels in Dallas that we drive by everyday without taking much notice. One of those very near to our house is Harry S. Moss Park. Not much of a park in the traditional terms but rather a forest with clear trails with twists and turns throughout. Turner and I made the trek Sunday afternoon and it was a blast. We tried Honeysuckles every chance we got, spied lot's of cool creatures and got Slurpees after.

Happy Birthday Turner!

Today is Turner's 6th birthday! It is tradition that you get birthday donuts and open your presents in the morning. Turner got Lego Star Wars. Marvel flip-flops. Where's Waldo books. A lightsaber that lights up and makes vroom noises. Marvel hero mighty beans. Lots of other stuff and (my favorite) a Captain America shield! Thanks everyone for such awesome stuff!

Bluebonnets.

Across from Gus' school there is a field that has a bajillion bluebonnets. I had to stop and take a couple pictures. We didn't venture too far away from the car so we didn't get in the thick of it. Maybe soon we can get a picture of the whole family in the sea blue.

M-I-Z-

It was Maggie's first birthday on March 3rd (same as Grandma!). She had a birthday party a week later in Missouri and we all made the trip to celebrate. Lauren made a cake for Mags and awesome cupcakes for all the other kids (and daddys). Here are some pics of our trip which included Maggie as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, breakfast with the Clapper's and (wait for it) a few inches of SNOW!

The award winning Turner.

Turner got an award at school today for being one of the most awesomest kindergarten students ever. He has the medal to prove it. They do a really great job of making the winners feel special. During an assembly the Principal calls each of the winners up on stage. Then the whole school and a handful of parents all applaud and yell. Needless to say, he was psyched.
